Personal and Couple’s Counselling & Psychotherapy
Sometimes life asks more of us than we can manage alone
It might be a slow accumulation, stress that has built over years, a relationship that has quietly shifted, a version of yourself you no longer recognise. Or it might be something more sudden: a loss, a crisis, a moment that changes the shape of everything.
Most of us have people we love who want to help. And sometimes that is enough. But there are times when what we are carrying is too complex, too layered, or simply too much to resolve in the context of everyday relationships. This is when professional support can make a real difference.
Counselling offers a private, confidential space, one that is yours entirely. A place to speak honestly about what is happening in your life, your relationships, and your inner world, without needing to manage the impact on the person listening.
In that space, things that have felt confusing can begin to make sense. Patterns that have been difficult to see from the inside become clearer. And what has felt overwhelming starts, gradually, to feel workable
Our first session is an opportunity for both of us to get a sense of whether we are a good fit. I will want to understand what has brought you here, what feels most pressing, and what you are hoping might shift. You will have the chance to ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and decide, without any pressure, whether this feels like the right space for you.
Finding the right therapist matters. I would rather you leave that first session clear about your next step than feel you need to commit before you are ready.
People sometimes ask about the difference between counselling and psychotherapy. In practice, they are closely related both offer a supported, relational space for reflection and growth. The distinction is largely one of depth and duration.
Many people begin with counselling and find themselves drawn into something deeper. Others know from the start that psychotherapy is what they need. We will work out together what is right for you.
My work is client-centred — which means that you and your experience are always the starting point, never a theory about what your experience should look like.
I draw on gestalt psychotherapy, psychodynamic principles, and family constellation work, weaving these approaches together in response to what each person brings. What this looks like in practice is a therapeutic relationship that is warm, honest, and genuinely present one where you are met as a whole person, not reduced to a diagnosis or a presenting problem.
Counselling can be helpful at many different points in life not only in crisis, but whenever you feel ready to understand yourself more deeply
• Emotional crises – Relationship breakdown, divorce, job loss, bereavement, or a traumatic event that has left you struggling to find your footing.
• Relationships – Difficulties with a partner, marriage, family members, friends, or colleagues, patterns that keep repeating or connections that feel strained.
• Mood and mental health – Anxiety, depression, stress, panic, anger, low self-esteem, phobias, loneliness, or a persistent sense of emptiness or dissatisfaction.
•The past – Childhood trauma, neglect, loss, or abandonment — experiences that continue to shape the way you move through the world today.
•Unhelpful coping – Withdrawing from relationships, drinking or using substances to manage, emotional eating, or losing interest in things that once mattered to you
• Personal development and growth – to gain more from life, deepen understanding of yourself, explore and grow, develop better self- esteem and confidence.
what The process can offer you:
→ A deeper trust in yourself — in your instincts, your perceptions, and your capacity to navigate what life brings
→ Greater access to your own emotional experience, and the ability to sit with feelings rather than be overwhelmed by them
→ A stronger sense of who you are — more authentic, more present, more genuinely engaged in your own life
→ The ability to connect more fully with others and to build relationships that feel nourishing rather than draining
→ Practical tools and new ways of thinking that support you through difficult moments long after our work together ends.
